You Won’t Want to Miss the 2018 ASPPA Annual Conference!

We’ve been hard at work filling an extensive schedule with options to meet your continuing education credit requirements, strengthen your knowledge, and expand your expertise. There will be a number of sessions that encourage audience participation and discussion, fostering engagement with your peers. Ultimately we will work together to formulate solutions to the issues we encounter in our profession.

The Defined Benefit track is focused specifically on the particular issues and complexities of these types of plans. Designed for actuaries and defined benefit professionals alike, here are a few highlights:

  • The Ins and Outs of Cash Balance PlansYou may be familiar with Cash Balance plans, but are you an expert? Assuming general knowledge, this two part session will take a close look at the intricacies and nuances of Cash Balance Plans.
  • DB EPCRSThrough real-life case studies and examples you will learn about the self-correction and VCP submission process. This session will take a close look at how EPCRS covers defined benefit issues, including certain rules that are only applicable to DB plans.
  • PBGC Reporting and Notices and Guiding the Plan Sponsor Through the DB Term ProcessWe will have representatives from the PBGC to join our speakers and offer their guidance and perspective. One session will review the reporting and notice requirements for plan operation and compliance and the other will cover the steps for a successful plan termination.
  • DB Documents and RestatementsThis session will focus on the latest developments affecting Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plan documents with the upcoming restatement cycle.
  • Plan Designs — Should You Push the Envelope? Just because you can design a plan that way does not mean you should.  The speakers in this two part session will discuss plan designs that may push the envelope and the challenges that come along with those designs.

New this year, each individual track session will be 50 minutes with a select few offered in two parts. This is designed to bring a more focused and meaningful structure to each topic.

As part of the annual conference you will have options to attend sessions in any track if a particular topic is relevant or meaningful to you.

As always, the general sessions will not disappoint.

We look forward to seeing you in DC this October!
