ASPPA Business Managers and Owners Council Off to a Great Start

ASPPA’s new Business Managers and Owners Council (BMOC) is off to a great start based on the interest generated at the recent ASPPA annual conference. In case you missed it, BMOC is the new membership option for ASPPA members who are either owners or senior executives of a pension administration or actuarial service business.

BMOC membership begins Jan. 1, 2015, but registration has already begun. A “kick off” reception at the ASPPA annual conference was attended by well over 100 business owners and senior managers. Attendees heard about the great plans for BMOC members including conferences specifically designed for TPA firm owners and executives, networking opportunities with peers, quarterly practice management webinars, quarterly Washington update webcasts and a dedicated “members only” web forum. BMOC dues for 2015 are only $250.

Details for the first BMOC centered conference, scheduled for early next year, were also discussed. The Business Executives and Mangers (BEAM) conference will be a “fly-in” meeting to be held Jan. 25-27 in Houston, at the Sheraton North Hotel (located in close proximity to George Bush Intercontinental Airport). The BEAM conference will be presented by experts from both within and outside the industry. Topics will include:

  • business growth and development through a 3(16) service model;
  • employee engagement and compensation; sales force development and profitability; and
  • an update on how current developments in Washington will impact plan sponsors and their service providers.
An integral part of the conference will be round table discussions of the presented topics facilitated by peers acting as table moderators. Plenty of time will be reserved for networking with fellow attendees.

The BEAM conference is very competitively priced for ASPPA members. The early registration price of $575 is available through December 12, 2015. An added benefit for those attending BEAM who otherwise qualify, will be free BMOC membership for 2015, a $250 value. Click here for details on the conference.

There was, however, one small glitch for the BMOC rollout at the ASPPA annual conference. For those individuals who completed registrations for BMOC or BEAM during the conference, unfortunately, there was a technological problem. Registrations that were keyed in to the computer at the ASPPA booth did not transfer to the ASPPA database (and no credit cards were charged). The paper applications were shredded because they contained personal information and hence the information has been lost. As a result, we are asking those who registered for BMOC or BEAM at the conference to please resubmit their information. If you did register and have not received a confirmation for the conference or membership please contact the ASPPA national office at (703) 516-9300 to be sure you weren’t impacted by this glitch.
