IRS Issues IRA RMD Worksheets for 2015

The IRS has issued IRA required minimum distribution (RMD) worksheets for figuring this year’s required withdrawals from traditional IRAs. One of the worksheets concerns RMDs from traditional IRAs, and the other concerns RMDs if a spouse who is more than 10 years younger than the IRA holder is the beneficiary.

RMDs in both circumstances must be received by April 1 of the year following that in which the holder attains age 70½, and by Dec. 31 all years after that year.

Both worksheets provide tables for use in determining distributions. The formula for use when the spouse is more than 10 years younger than the IRA holder is more complicated, and accounts for the ages of both and the life expectancy at the intersection of their ages.
