Oct. 6 Webcast to Take a Closer Look at DOL’s Form 5500 Initiative

On July 21, 2016, the Department of Labor (DOL), the IRS and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) proposed significant revisions to the Form 5500 and related schedules intended to modernize the form, improve the transparency and “mineability” of the information provided, and enhance compliance with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.

In “DOL’s Form 5500 Modernization Initiative,” an ASPPA webcast to be held from 2:00 to 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, Marianne Gibbs, ERISA Filing Acceptance System Program Manager, and Elizabeth A. Goodman, Senior Employee Benefits Law Specialist, Office of Regulations and Interpretations, EBSA; Grace Kraemer, Esq., Legislative and Regulatory Department, PBGC; and Yaguo Zhang, Senior Tax Law Specialist, Employee Plans, IRS, will review the revisions, the underlying policy goals, and the timeline for implementation. Craig P. Hoffman, Esq., APM, General Counsel, American Retirement Association, will moderate the discussion.

Attendees of this webcast will:

  • hear about the modernization of the financial schedules and service provider fee information;

  • discover how the changes will affect plan sponsors and third-party administrators; and

  • identify strategies for being prepared.
