As part of the year-long celebration of ASPPA’s 50th anniversary, we’ve compiled lists of landmark events that took place in each month of the year. The month of October featured:

1965: CAPP meeting at Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans
1966: ASPA incorporated in Fort Worth, Texas
1969: First Annual Conference
1970: Code of Ethics and Guide to Conduct adopted
1986: Tax Reform Act of 1986 (TRA 86) enacted
1986: Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986 (OBRA 86)
1989: First “Congressional Day” as part of Annual Conference
1990: Older Workers Benefit Protection Act of 1990 (OWBPA 90) enacted
1992: First female president, Ruth Frew
1994: Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act of 1994 (USERRA)
1998: First non-actuary president, Karen Jordan
