Industry Expert Bob Kaplan Joins the American Retirement Association

The American Retirement Association (ARA) is pleased to announce the addition of Bob Kaplan to its Retirement Plan Academy team.

Kaplan, who was previously VP, National Training Consultant for Voya Financial, joins the ARA staff as Director of Technical Education, where he will serve as the association’s lead subject matter expert on a rapidly expanding array of educational resources for the retirement plan community.

With nearly four decades of experience with retirement plan issues, Kaplan has a long relationship with the ARA, having served both as a Co-Chair of ASPPA’s Government Affairs Committee and as a member of ASPPA’s Leadership Council. He previously served as a member of the Board of Managers of the American Institute of Retirement Education (AIRE) and the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA). In 2009, he was presented with NIPA’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the retirement plan industry.

“For years Bob has contributed to our conference content with his subject matter expertise," noted Chris DeGrassi, ARA’s Chief of Retirement Plan Education. “We are thrilled to have an individual with Bob’s experience and expertise join our Retirement Plan Academy team, as we continue to develop and expand the nation’s leading source of retirement industry education.”

Kaplan, a former high school basketball coach, is a graduate of the State University at Albany, NY and has a graduate degree from William Paterson University in New Jersey.
