About the Speakers
Joe Nichols is owner of Nichols Actuarial Consulting, LLC and has provided actuarial consulting services to defined benefit plans for 30 years. His work experience includes plan design and compliance to plans of all sizes — small business plans, corporate plans and statewide systems. Joe was President of ACOPA in 2012, President of ASPPA in 2016 and is currently Secretary of ARA. He is also the current Chair of The Actuarial Foundation.
Rod Stortenbecker is director of compliance and a senior consultant at Lincoln Financial Group. He has over 18 years of experience in the retirement plan industry working with both for-profit and not-for-profit entities. Rod assists clients with plan design, compliance and operational questions/issues for various types of retirement plans (401(k), 403(b), 457(b), 457(f), ESOPs, NQDC and Defined Benefit Plans). He has been with Lincoln since June 2012 and was previously employed at Principal Financial Group as a Senior Consultant.
