Description:  Plan sponsors often ask “What do I do if I have failed to allow an eligible employee to make  401(k) contributions and receive a corresponding match”?    Fortunately IRS’ Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS) provides guidance on how to correct these situations and avoid adverse consequences.   This session will cover the various corrective options and special considerations for automatic enrollment and safe harbor plans.

About the Speaker:

Mike Smith heads the Qualified Plan Consulting team in Voya Financial’s Corporate Markets. He has over 35 years of experience in the retirement plans field, specializing in 401(k) and other qualified retirement plans. Mike is responsible for regulatory consulting and monitoring new and pending legislation for impact on Voya products and services.

Mike has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Chapter of the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA) for many years, and is a past Chapter President.  He is also a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and holds the Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designations from that organization.

Mike was active in youth coaching for many years, and is a former high school football coach.

He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State College in New Haven, CT.
