ASPPA Eastern Regional Conference Set for April 27-28 in Philadelphia

The Eastern Regional Conference (formerly the Philadelphia Regional Conference) will be held at the Doubletree Center City Hotel in Philadelphia on Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28. One of only two live regional conferences to be sponsored by ASPPA in 2017, the Eastern Regional Conference has been designed to educate retirement plan practitioners of all types and levels of experience on the latest developments in our industry.

The lineup of notable speakers includes Craig Hoffman, Don Kieffer of the IRS, David Levine, Ilene Ferenczy, Bob Kaplan, ASPPA President Richard Hochman, Derrin Watson, Tom Finnegan, Martha Sadler and Sue Diehl. Nevin Adams, Chief of Marketing & Communications for the American Retirement Association, will be the Keynote Speaker at Thursday’s luncheon.

There will be general sessions covering the latest developments in Washington — at the IRS and the Department of Labor — as well as ethics and an “Ask the Experts” session. Breakout workshop sessions will cover:

  • hardship distributions;

  • compensation;

  • discussing compliance problems with your clients;

  • advanced issues in controlled and affiliated service groups;

  • benefit consulting for tax-exempt organizations, governmental employers and church plans;

  • defined benefit plans;

  • curing defective plans;

  • Form 5500 issues; and

  • co-fiduciary liability with 3(16) services.
