EFAST2 2014 Rollover Changes Coming Soon

  1. The EFAST2 2014 rollover changes will be implemented in the EFAST2 production system Jan. 1, 2015. The Department of Labor issued a reminder about that for EFAST2 third party software vendors on Dec. 16. It included the reminder with its transmission of information regarding the release of the advance copies of the 2014 Form 5500 and Form 5500-SF.

Following are the changes that will be implemented:

  1. Beginning Jan. 1, 2015, Form Version 2010v01.01 will become inactive and 2010 filing submissions will not be accepted by the EFAST2 system. Anyone attempting to submit a 2010 filing will receive a SOAP fault stating the service is not available. This new error message will also be returned for 2009 filing submissions. GetSubmissionStatus and GetFilingStatus requests for Form Version 2009 and Form Version 2010 filings will also no longer be accepted. Form Version 2009 and 2010 submissions should be submitted as a prior year filing on a current form year form.
  2. Be sure to use the correct form for 2014 filings. Those filings can be submitted on a 2013 Form 5500 or 5500-SF only through Dec. 31, 2014. Beginning Jan. 1, 2015, filings for plans with a plan year begin date in 2014 or 2015 must be submitted on a 2014 Form 5500 or 5500-SF. In-progress 2014 filings should be completed and submitted before Dec. 31, 2014. Otherwise, a new filing on a new 2014 Form 5500 or 5500-SF will need to be created. See EBSA’s Form Version Selection Tool for help determining which version of the Form 5500 or 5500-SF should be filed.

The 2014 PATS Package is currently available on the EFAST2 website. The 2014 package includes the Edit Test Mask Lists that will be effective 1/1/2015 in the production system. The 2014 Edit Test Mask List will include the recent updates to unmask X-111 and X-112 and to change the severity of P-230SF from "Stop" to "Error."

The DOL says that the EFAST2 Software and Approved Vendor page will be updated on Jan. 1, 2015 to include a list of software that is certified for 2014 as of Dec. 18, 2014. The list will be updated periodically as more software becomes certified. The DOL also says that the existing list of approved software for 2010 will be removed.
