The ASPPA College of Pension Actuaries (ACOPA) has honored Kevin Donovan with the 2019 Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award.

The award, presented at the ACOPA Actuarial Symposium in Chicago, Illinois on Aug. 9, is presented annually to a pension actuary who has gone above and beyond the call of the profession in advancing ethics, education, beneficial legislation or regulations that enhance the private pension system or the professionalism of enrolled actuaries within the private pension system. Ed Burrows was a beacon in this regard, and ACOPA honors him by presenting an award that recognizes those who follow his example.

Donovan is the managing member and founder of Pinnacle Plan Design where he specializes in designing retirement plans to maximize the benefits for business owners and principals.

Kevin is a leading actuary in the pension field, specifically in the area of cash balance plan design and administration. Donovan, along with fellow actuaries Sheri Alsguth and Lynn Young, authored the 2016-2019 Editions of the Defined Benefit Answer Book, published by Wolters Kluwer. He was also the 2015 recipient of the ASPPA Educator’s Award.

“Kevin Donovan has been a thought leader in the actuarial profession for many years. His work as an educator and as a volunteer for ACOPA and other groups make him the perfect recipient of this year’s Burrows Award,” said Tom Finnegan, FSPA, FCA, chair of the Burrows Award committee.
