RMD’s from Beginning to End – Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) are a necessary but complicated aspect of retirement plan compliance and planning. This webcast will provide an overview of how these rules apply to both qualified plans and IRA’s, including the special rules for Roth accounts. Issues to be addressed include:
- When to begin distributions;
- Special rules for 5% owners and determining who qualifies;
- The impact of rollovers and transfers (including charitable transfers);
- Roth conversions;
- What to do if too little or too much is distributed; and
- After death distributions and the use of “stretch” IRAs.
Learning Objectives:
- The basic rules of how, when and how much I must take minimum distributions from my qualified retirement plan and IRA.
- Various planning techniques that can be utilized to minimize current and future taxation.
- Future considerations with respect to required minimum distributions. Will they be delayed for those whose account balances are less than $100,000? Will the stretch IRA disappear? Will Roth IRA's be limited?
